As nobuka, Michel van Collenburg makes lo-fi electronic music. Working from a DIY mentality with tape recorders, electric guitar, modular synths, fieldrecordings, samples and household objects. In his work, as well as in his live performances, he often lets moments of stillness collide with chaos. Using the dynamics of sound to tell a compelling story.

nobuka’s musical influences include: Ryuichi Sakamoto, John Cage, Thom Yorke, Jonny Greenwood, Mica Levi, Machinefabriek, KMRU and Claire Rousay. nobuka also finds inspiration in the works of Daido Moriyama, Haruki Murakami, Yorgos Lanthimos, Ed van der Elsken, Francesca Woodman, Charles Bukowski and Katrien de Blauwer.
